Default Guild Wars Concurrent Users

Hola

I was curious if anyone has ever heard / seen /known any numbers in terms of guild wars concurrent users? I saw >another mmo< claiming records for concurrent users on 1 "shard" when they hit like 25,000 but i would assume GW must have more than that. Of course maybe they did not consider it due to the instancing? Just curious, thanks!

consider that GW is one giant world wide shard you can move around in and wow shards are separate locked servers you can see the difference

I'm guessing the 25,000 number is Eve Online? This is different from Guild Wars though. If everyone were in the same area they would all see one another on the server. This isn't the case in Guild Wars with the different districts in town, and the instances. This allows ArenaNET to easily split the population between multiple servers and makes load balancing easy.

During the dragon festival I saw over 260 instances of the monestary later in the night when the Emperor was making one of his visits. Assuming 100 characters per district this puts it at ~26,000 people. Though the districts were very likely on different servers and thus wouldn't count for this record.

Indeed I was referring to EVE, not WoW (lucky if they can handle 1500 on a server ) and I understand the difference in the server architectures. It did though get me curious just how many people are floating around on the Guild Wars server "network" so to speak, i'd guess the number is rather impressive.

EVE doesn't put everyone on a server either, they spread the various systems among multiple servers. They have some really hefty servers for the major hubs, but dump a few thousand pilots into Jita and watch the laaaaaag. But I suppose that's why you quoted "shard".
